Vladimir Frolov

Art and architecture critic and historian, curator. Member of the Prize’s Board of Experts (2022)

Vladimir Frolov was born in Leningrad, Russia in 1980. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts (department of history and theory of art) in St Petersburg. Currently he is continuing his academic career at the St Petersburg Academy of arts (department of history and theory of art), teaching history of architecture. 

He was contributed to architecture, art and design media including Project Russia, Project International, Interni, Wallpaper, Bauwelt, Art-Khronika, Latvijas Architektūra, Ehituskunst, Maja etc.

In 2007 Vladimir Frolov together with a Dutch architect Bart Goldhoorn founded an international regional Project Baltia review of architecture and design from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and North-West Russia, which he continues to run untill now. 

In 2019 Project Baltia and SHKAF library and art residence in St Petersburg founded the architecture photo gallery ‘Tochka’, which is a unique institution dedicated solely to architectural photography. 

Vladimir Frolov curated a significant number of architecture and art exhibitions, including: Leningrad Modernism. A View from the 21st Century (2006-, shown in St Petersburg, Oulu, Helsinki, Vilnius, Riga etc); Nordic ID (2012, St Petersburg, Moscow, Oslo); Children of the avant-garde (2016, St Petersburg); 12 Cities of the Future (2017, St. Petersburg, Moscow); World of Architecture and Design festival in St Petersburg (2019) and many others.
