Journalist, philosopher and writer, a regular columnist in the newspaper El País and commentator on the radio station Cadena Ser and director of the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona from 1994 to 2011.



The journalist, philosopher and writer Josep Ramoneda (Cervera, 1949) was director of the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB – Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona) from 1994 to 2011 and has been president of the Institut de la Recherche et de l’Innovation (IRI) in Paris since 2009. He writes and speaks regularly in the Spanish media, for example in the daily El País and the radio station Cadena Ser. He is editor-in-chief of the review of contemporary thought La maleta de Portbou and editor of collections of books including “Textos filosòfics” for the publisher Edicions 62, and Ensayo for Tusquets Editores.

He has published a considerable number of books, notable amongst which are:

  • Después de la pasión política (After the Political Passion, 1999)
  • Del tiempo condensado: globalización, inmigración, terrorismo, cultura (On Condensed Time: Globalisation, Immigration, Terrorism, Culture, 2003)

  • La izquierda necesaria (The Necessary Left, 2012)
