Architect and urban planner, director of the Bologna Urban Center and member of the Expert Committee of the European Prize for Urban Public Space since the 2014 edition.
The architect Giovanni Ginocchini is the director of the Urban Center Bologna, institution that spreads urban issues in this Italian city. He has worked for the magazine on urban Planum and has collaborated with the Department of Architecture and Planning (SLIDE) of the Polytechnic University of Milan. He has been an advisor for urban projects at European, national, regional and local levels and has published several essays of international resonance, among which Dieci anni di Urban Center Bologna (Ten years of Urban Centre Bologna); Bologna, esperienze di confronto pubblico orientate al progetto (Bologna, experiences of public oriented to the project); Percorsi di partecipazione: urbanistica e confronto pubblico a Bologna 2004-2009 (Pathways to participation: urban planning and public debate in Bologna, 2004-2009); Il Mercato: una storia di rigenerazione urbana a Bologna (The Market: a history of urban regeneration in Bologna) and Esperienze di progettazione partecipata negli USA: appunti di un viaggio di studio in North Carolina e nella Bay Area (Experiences of participatory planning in the USA: notes on a study tour in North Carolina and in the Bay Area). Ginocchini is a member of the Expert Committee of the European Prize for Urban Public Space since the 2014 edition.
