Architect. Member of the Prize’s Board of Experts.

A graduate in Architecture from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Porto (FAUP), with a master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Studies from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Catalonia (Master Metropolis), and also a PhD from FAUP, he has been working professionally as an independent architect since 1994.

He is an assistant lecturer at the FAUP and deputy director of the Centre for Architecture and Urban Studies CEAU-FAUP where he carries out research on public space. He has published numerous articles about public space in a range of publications. Notable examples are “Designing the city from public space” in The Journal of Public Space (2017) and “Desígnios e formas do espaço público na cidade contemporânea” in volume 11 of the Revista Iberoamericana de Urbanismo.
