"Polis" Exhibition in Brussels (Belgium)

European Parliament

The exhibition, which has already been shown in New York, Saint Petersburg, and Mexico City, can be visited in Brussels from 17 to 19 October

On 17 October the exhibition “Polis: 7 Lessons from the European Prize for Urban Public Space” opened in the European Parliament thanks to the initiative of Jordi Solé Ferrando, member of the European Parliament for the Greens-European Free Alliance, and mayor of Caldes de Montbui. On this occasion the venue of the exhibition is one of the European government headquarters with the aim of sharing with MEPs the latest lessons offered by public space projects in European cities. These initiatives are grouped into seven themes: democracy, memory, mobility, waterfront, marketplace, margins and mixture.

With many MEPs attending, the opening was a success. After welcoming speeches by Jordi Solé, Judit Carrera, director of the European Prize for Urban Public Space and of the Centre for Documentation and Debates at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB), and Jan Olbrycht, president of the URBAN Intergroup at the European Parliament, a lecture titled “the Future of the European City” was given by Hans Ibelings, a member of the International Jury of the European Prize for Urban Public Space and professor at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape and Design at the University of Toronto. Finally, after the lecture, the MEPs were offered a guided tour of the exhibition.

The exhibition, which has already been shown in New York, Saint Petersburg, and Mexico City, can be visited in Brussels from 17 to 19 October.
