Urban planner

She graduated in Architecture from the School of Architecture of Barcelona, where she has been an associate professor in the Department of Town Planning and Territorial Planning for more than ten years. She is also a visiting professor at the EPFL in Lausanne, and has taught at several international faculties and public institutions. Her professional activity is related to digital technologies, spatial analysis, urban planning and public policies at an international scale. She is also co-founder of 300,000 km/s, an urban planning agency that explores the potential of Big Data and new computing paradigms to improve urban analysis, strategic planning and decision making. She has received the S+T+ARTS Award (2019) and the Premio de Urbanismo Español  (2020) for the innovative quality and influence on social change of her work. Her work has been shown at international cultural institutions, such as the Venice Architecture Biennale (2021, 2016), BOZAR Bruxelles (2020), the ArsElectronica Festival (2019) or the Chicago Arts Institute (2015). Santamaria has also collaborated as an expert in the drafting of the Catalan and Spanish Urban Agendas for 2030, and has coordinated several participatory workshops for professionals and non-specialized audiences.
