Architect. President of the prize jury in 2002.

Nationally and internationally renowned architect. He trained as an architect in 1974 at the ETSAB, where he has taught since 1984, and gained his PhD in 1994 at the UPC. He has also taught Architecture and Projects at the ETH Zurich and lectured at principal academic and professional institutions worldwide, including the J.P. Getty Center in Los Angeles, Harvard University-GSD and AHO Oslo.

His built projects include the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB) and Hotel AC, designed for the Universal Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004, the Sant Jordi Hall of Residence in Barcelona (Trofeo Archizinc 2008), the WTC Almeda Park building in Cornellà, Barcelona, and the Film Theatre of Catalonia in Barcelona (2012). On the international scene, they include housing projects in The Hague, Amsterdam, Toulouse and Bordeaux, the headquarters of the Landeszentralbank in Chemnitz (Germany, 2004), La Factory office building in Boulogne-Billancourt, Paris (2010) and the Castelo Branco Contemporary Arts Centre (Portugal, 2013). His work has been published and exhibited internationally, including at the MoMA (New York, 2006), the Pavillon de l’Arsenal (Paris, 2009), the Venice Biennale (2012) and the Galerie d’Architecture (Paris, 2013).

His work as a researcher and writer includes Textos Instrumentales (Gustavo Gili, 2007), Ocasiones (Actar, 2009) and Facts (Actar, 2016).

President of the jury of the European Prize for Urban Public Space in 2002.
