Anna Maria Zahariade

Architect. Member of the Prize’s Board of Experts.

A lecturer in Theory of Architecture and supervisor of PhD theses at the Ion Mincu University of Architecture and Urbanism, she has played a key role in modernising the teaching of Architecture in Romania since 1989. Her research work, with the help of national and international grants (Getty, Getty-Nec, CNCSIS, UAR), has focused on modernism in Romania and Eastern Europe, Romanian architecture before and after communism, housing, and other aesthetic concepts of the theory of Architecture.

She has published numerous articles in architectural magazines and collective works in both national and international domains, and is author, co-author, and editor of a considerable number of books about architecture, notable amongst which is the bilingual edition of Symptoms of Transition (Arhitext Design, 2009). She has been a member of several teams of curators, juries, and also committees of a variety of architectural institutions.
