Philosopher

Publisher and, from 1988 to 2012, editor of Esprit, the French review of contemporary thought. When a student of philosophy, he was taught by Paul Ricœur. Since 1985 he has been co-editor of the "La couleur des idées" (The Colour of Ideas) collection of the publishing house Seuil. Between 1993 and 1997 he was director of Hachette’s "Questions de société" (Questions of Society) collection. He was also a member of the commission on television violence established by President Jacques Chirac.
