Igor Kovačević

Architect. Member of the Prize’s Board of Experts.

He studied Architecture and Urban Planning at the Czech Technical University in Prague, after which he went on to obtain a master’s degree in 2000. In 2012 he completed his PhD thesis on Yugoslavian architects educated in the Czech Republic. In 2000 he and Yvette Vašourková co-founded the architecture studio MOBA, which has presented projects in more than fifty competitions in which twelve of its works have received prizes. He is also co-founded of the Centre for Central European Architecture (CCEA). These two organisations are engaged in theoretical work and research projects.

He has worked in a large number of research projects, notable amongst which are Young Blood 2004-2008, BIG DEAL 2007, Generation + 2008, TACE – Theatre Architecture in Central Europe, Urbanity, Culburb – Cultural Acupuncture Treatment for Suburb, and Lifting the Curtain – Central European Architecture Networks, a project selected by the curator Rem Koolhas as an event to be included in the Fourteenth Architecture Biennale in Venice.
