Philosopher

Professor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences at the Paris-Est Créteil Val-de-Marne University and of Political Thought at the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences-Po) in Paris. He is well known as an authority on the work of Michel Foucault, and wrote his doctoral thesis on Foucault’s thought. His main areas of research are forms of public violence (the sense of punishment and the modern configurations of war), present-day forms of government and ethical structures of political obedience.
