Myrivili is Senior Advisor and Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Arsht-Rockefeller Resilience Center where she has led the Policy Work Group of the Center’s Extreme Heat Resilience Alliance (EHRA) and, holding a broad portfolio that combines strategic thinking, management, and implementation, has spearheaded the work in Athens and Europe. In the summer of 2021, she was also appointed by the Mayor of Athens as the city’s Chief Heat Officer. She is currently engaged in designing, leading, and promoting heat adaptation programmes that protect people at risk while building better urban environments, in Athens and beyond. Myrivili was elected to the Athens’ City Council and served as Deputy Mayor for Urban Nature and Chief Resilience Officer, in which capacity she led a systematic and sustainable shift towards Climate Resilience (2014-2019). During her term in office, she built links between sectors and across silos, designed and oversaw multi-million-euro blue and green infrastructure programmes. In recognition of her leadership, she received the Loeb Fellowship (2020) from Harvard University. A recognized voice in Heat Resilience, Eleni Myrivili, has been featured in many international media outlets including the New York Times and, in December 2021, the Politico 28 list of most influential Europeans for 2022. She has held a tenured position at the University of the Aegean, was the host of a National Public Television documentary series on sustainable living, and she also holds a PhD in Anthropology from Columbia University.
