Editor and member of the editorial board since 1990 of Bauwelt, a magazine specialising in, and a platform for contemporary architecture and design, he has also worked with other international publications and media, including the English magazine The Architectural Review.

Notable among his many publications are the books Dream City. Zur Zukunft der Stadträume (Hatje Cantz, 2001), which describes twentieth-century European urban developments, and Paris: Contemporary Architecture (Prestel, 1997), which offers a vision of Paris from the standpoint of architecture.
