Žaklina Gligorijević

Urban planner. Member of the Prize’s Board of Experts.

After studying Architecture at the University of Belgrade, she obtained a master’s degree in urban planning and a PhD, after which she continued studying at MIT and Harvard GSD, among other institutions. Her professional work has been in the private, public, and NGO sectors and she now heads the Department of Strategic Planning at the Urban Planning Bureau in Belgrade of which she was previously director. She is vice-president of the Belgrade Association of Architects, president of the national delegation ISoCaRP, and national representative at the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE).

Her main professional interests are the public sphere, strategic thinking, sustainable urban rehabilitation, and the creative sector. She has carried out in-depth work in education and communication and has organised and taken part in national and international conferences, exhibitions, workshops and other activities, as well as participating in competitions, projects, studies and plans in the area of urban design, including the Belgrade Master Plan (2009). Moreover, she has participated in international projects and competitions in Serbia, Montenegro, Cyprus, Ireland, the United States, and Romania. She represented Belgrade in the international project Financing Metropolitan Governments in Transitional Countries, which compared different European capitals.
