Oliver Wainwright

Writer and architecture critic. Member of the Prize’s Board of Experts.

After studying Architecture at the University of Cambridge and the Royal College of Art, he has been an architecture and design critic at The Guardian since 2012. Prior to this, he worked in strategic planning in the Architecture and Planning Unit of the Greater London Authority as well as in numerous architecture studios, among them OMA in Rotterdam and Muf in London.

As an author, he has frequently written in different areas of the media and for publications in art and design, for example Building Design, Architects’ Journal, Icon, Domus and Frieze. He has received awards for his work on the housing and planning crisis. Moreover, he has been a curator for the Architecture Foundation and has taught in national and international schools of architecture.
