Territories of contact Workshop

The Vallès School of Architecture (ETSAV) Projects Workshop, which is devoted to public space as a territory of contact, has now begun with the presence of guest lecturer, Paola Viganò.

On 12 September, the inaugural session of the ETSAV Projects Workshop – Territories of Contact was held at the CCCB. The workshop is part of a broader joint ETSAV-CCCB programme, which is now being offered for the second consecutive year.

25 fifth-year Architecture students will spend the first four-month term of this academic year working on public space as a mechanism for the construction of civic-mindedness. The workshop is based on a critical review of the five finalist projects of the 2022 European Prize for Urban Public Space, as well as on-site work in several urban spaces of Sabadell.

The students will analyse the strategies applied to the five finalist works of the Prize and will work directly with the authors of these projects when they come to Barcelona for the events that are related with the prize-giving ceremony, which is to be held on 15 October.

The inaugural session, led by the ETSAV lecturers Pere Buil and Catalina Salvà, was attended by the Workshop’s guest lecturer, the Italian architect and urban planner, Paola Viganò, winner of the 2018 Gold Medal for Italian Architecture and professor of Urban Planning and Urban Design at the University of Venice.
