Viorica Buica

Architect, chief editor of the Igloo magazine and member of the Expert Committee of the European Prize for Urban Public Space since the 2012 edition.

The architect Viorica Buiça is the senior editor of Igloo Magazine, for which she has interviewed a number of Romanian architects, have written about some of the most significant architectural projects and interior designs in the country and has coordinated thematic surveys and opinion columns. She is a member of the team responsible for Arhitecti Bucuresteni (Bucharest Architects), the newsletter of the Bucharest subdivision of the Romanian Order of Architects. Since 2005, she has coordinated and edited a number of books on local and international contemporary architecture within Igloo Profil and Igloo Books series, among others. She has also been in charge of exhibition catalogues as Bucharest Architecture Annual (2005-2010) and Architecture seen through Igloo Series (2005-2012). Moreover, she has organized various events related to architecture, such as exhibitions, conferences and film screenings. Among them are the retrospective exhibition Alvaro Siza: 54 projects (National Museum of Contemporary Art in Romania, 2008), the exhibition Chile: beyond landscape (National Museum of Contemporary Art in Romania, 2011) and the exhibition In favour of public space (Salla Gallery Dallas, 2009), in collaboration with the Center of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB). Buica is a member of the Expert Committee of the European Prize for Urban Public Space since the 2012 edition.
