Greg Richards

Geographer

Professor of Placemaking and Events at Breda University of Applied Sciences, and Professor of Leisure Studies at Tilburg University. His area of research is the relationship between people, place and consumption, and the ways in which these links shape cities and regions. He has worked closely with local and regional governments and international organisations in the study of tourism and leisure geographies. He previously worked with Fundació Interarts in Barcelona and the Rovira i Virgili University in Tarragona. His major publications include Eventful Cities (Routledge, 2010), Reinventing the Local in Tourism: Producing, Consuming and Negotiating Place (Channel View, 2016), The Handbook of New Urban Studies (SAGE, 2017) and Rethinking Cultural Tourism (Edward Elgar, 2021).
