Elša Turkušić Jurić

Architect. Member of the Prize’s Board of Experts.

After studying Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Sarajevo and the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB), she then obtained a master’s degree and a PhD in Architecture and Urbanism in 2010 and 2014 respectively. Since 2007 she has been working as an assistant lecturer in the Department of Architectural Design in the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Sarajevo.

She has worked for The Aga Khan Trust for Culture Foundation in the Historic Cities Programme “Conservation and Revitalisation of Historic Mostar” and for the Swedish Cultural Heritage without Borders Foundation. She has also worked in several projects with the Institute for Historical-Cultural and Natural Protection of the Canton of Sarajevo. She is author and co-author of several essays and scientific articles based on her research in modern architectural trends in the context of social and cultural tendencies. She is a full voting member of the ICOMOS Twentieth Century Heritage International Scientific Committee and an independent expert for the European Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award.
