Providing the missing link in the complete refurbishment of the Amsterdam central station, the Cuyperspassage is crucial as a way of easing increasing flows of pedestrians and cyclists moving between the old city and its northern districts.

Moreover, the designers of the Cuyperspassage have made a beautiful tunnel, “something more than just a link, but really a place, something nice to experience”.

Cuypers passage as an urban interior

The Cuypers Passage is an underpass that offers the shortest connection for cyclists, and pedestrians, between Amsterdam’s historic centre and the waterfront and the ferries to Amsterdam North. But the tunnel is not only the desired shortcut but also a remarkably dignified space.
