He is a student of Eric Hobsbawm, he studied in the United Kingdom and the United States. His book The Culture of the Europeans (HarperCollins, 2006), published in Spanish as Cultura. El patrimonio común de los europeos (Crítica, 2006), is a monumental work on the origins and development of European culture since 1800.
