Barcelona is reconfirmed in its aspiration of being an international reference with regard to 21st-century global intelligent cities. A few months ago, Barcelona was the venue of the Smart City Expo World Congress and, now, from 13 to 16 March, it will host the 20th CIDEU (Ibero-American Center for Urban Strategic Development) Congress “Neo-Tertiary Urban Spaces”, at which more than 70 Ibero-American cities will be represented.

Under discussion at the Congress will be the question of the transformation of a tertiary city into a neo-tertiary city as a result of the globalization processes, the expanding use of digital technologies and social networks, and advances being made in the management of knowledge about urban space.
