Ljubljana (Slovenia) hosts the Prize exhibition

Park surrounding Fužine Castle

As of 27 September the open-air exhibition presenting the results of the seventh award of the Prize is to be shown in the park surrounding Fužine Castle in the Slovenian capital.

After its journey through several cities including Paris, Prague, Lyon, Toulouse, Bogotá, Medellín and Cartagena de Indias, the exhibition presenting the results of the Seventh European Prize for Urban Public Space has now arrived in the Slovenian capital. Shown for the first time in the open air, thanks to a special project designed by the Museum of Architecture and Design (MAO, in its Slovenian acronym), it will be inaugurated on Friday 27 September in the park surrounding Fužine Castle and will remain open to the public until 24 November 2013. MAO has just joined the group of partners which supports the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) in organising the Prize. The other members of the group are The Architecture Foundation (London), the Architekturzentrum Wien (Vienna), the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine (Paris), the Deutsches Architekturmuseum (Frankfurt), the Museum of Finnish Architecture (Helsinki) and the Nederlands Architectuurinstituut (Rotterdam).

The opening of the exhibition by Janez Koželj, Deputy Mayor of Ljubljana and the Prize Director, Judit Carrera, will be followed by presentations of some of the prize-winning works and one of the Special Mentions from the seventh award by members of the 2012 Jury. Hence, Dietmar Steiner, director of the Architekturzentrum Wien, will speak about the Renovation of the Banks of the Ljubljanica River (Ljubljana, 2011), Juulia Kauste, director of the Museum of Finnish Architecture, will present the Memorial to the Abolition of Slavery (Nantes, 2011), while David Bravo, Secretary for the Prize Jury, will describe the Restoration of the Hilltop Site of Turó de la Rovira (Barcelona, 2011) and Occupy Puerta del Sol (Madrid, 2011). These presentations will be followed by a discussion among all the participants, who will be joined by Matevž Čelik, director of the MAO.
