Gjergj Bakallbashi

Tirana (Albania)
Architect, graduated from Harvard University School of Design, Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture at the Municipality of Tirana, and a member of the Expert Committee of the European Prize for Urban Public Space since the 2016 edition.


Gjergj Bakallbashi, architecht, graduated from the Harvard University after finalizing a Master’s Degree from the Graduate School of Design, with a focus on Cities and their Specificity, taking part of the Research of Cities Program directed by Jacques Herzog and Pierre De Meuron. He currently holds the position of Head of the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture at the Municipaliry of Tirana (Albania). He has curated the First Albanian Pavillion at the Venice Architecture Biennale (2010) under the title “Beyond Color”, and has also published in the Harvard Univeristy-based journal New Geographies, concerned with agency and desing, about the Albanian Pavillion Project.
