Dan Merta

Art curator, director of GalerieJaroslavaFragnera and member of the Expert Committee of the European Prize for Urban Public Space since the 2014 edition.


Dan Merta studied History of Art and Aesthetics in the Faculty of Philosophy at the Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia). As a curator, he has organised exhibitions of work by E. Dietmann, C. Boltanski, K. Gebauer and A. Gormley in Prague Castle. From 1999 to 2008 he was secretary of the Jindřich Chalupecký Society, managing and organising the Jindřich Chalupecký Award for artists under the age of 35. Since 2001, he has been director of the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery, the leading Czech institution concerned with contemporary architecture. He was one of the founders of Iniciativa Za novou Prahu (Initiative for a New Prague) and also of Tady není developerovo (This Is No Place for Developers).
